Our Vision

Parchayi envisions a media space where every woman’s voice has the opportunity to be heard and valued. We believe that journalism has the power to reveal truths, challenge silence, and bring attention to stories that might otherwise remain unseen.

Parchayi was created from the perspective of a British-Pakistani voice that recognised a gap in the media landscape. Growing up within the British-Pakistani community, it became clear that there were very few news platforms reflecting our experiences, perspectives, and conversations within the British broadcasting space. Parchayi aims to bridge that gap by creating a platform that highlights stories, voices, and issues affecting women and communities that are often underrepresented in mainstream media. Through thoughtful journalism and storytelling, we seek to bring these narratives into the public conversation and ensure they are no longer left in the shadow.

I am a journalism student at Edinburgh Napier University currently completing my final year project. As a British-Pakistani born and raised in the UK, I have always felt a strong connection to my culture and identity. Through my studies, I began to notice the lack of representation of British-Pakistani voices within the British media landscape, particularly in spaces where our stories and perspectives are rarely highlighted.

My final year project, Parchayi, was created as a way to explore that gap and create a platform that reflects the voices, experiences, and issues that matter to communities like my own. Journalism, for me, is not just about reporting news, but about creating space for stories that deserve to be heard.
